Kukui Nut Soap
Kukui nut oil has long been used in Hawaii to treat various skin problems and skin damage caused by strong ultraviolet rays.
Kukui nut oil is highly nutritious and has excellent skin benefits, but it has not been used in soap making because it oxidizes easily. We were given the opportunity to share some freshly pressed pomace with you, and are now selling it in limited quantities.
We received nuts from kukui trees that grow wild at the foot of Iao Valley on the island of Maui from an individual who extracts the oil using a manual, cold-press method without applying heat, and we added the fresh pomace, which still contains the oil, to make soap.
This luxurious soap also contains red palm oil, avocado oil, and macadamia nut oil, which are also highly nutritious.
To prevent oxidation, kukui nuts are added to Hawaiian Mamaki tincture and jojoba oil after saponification so that they remain on the skin after washing, and then packaged in a sealer along with an oxygen absorber.
