At Mahinahina Maui, we believe in the gentle power of nature and the importance of preserving it. That's why we are pleased to introduce our HEAL THE WORLD Charity Project, a heartfelt initiative aimed at supporting wilderness conservation efforts to protect Maui's precious water sources.
The Urgency of Restoration
In August 2023, Maui faced an unprecedented crisis – a massive forest fire that swept through historic Lahaina, leaving devastation in its wake. This calamity, deemed the worst wildfire catastrophe in the United States in a century, was fueled not only by the harsh winds of hurricanes but also by the persistent drought that gripped the island. The diminishing soil moisture and escalating dry climate made Maui susceptible to such disasters, emphasizing the need for immediate action.
A Call to Preserve Maui’s Heritage
This disaster reminded us of the critical role of native old-growth forests in maintaining Maui's water sources. Over the years, the introduction of non-native species has led to a decline in these essential forests. Without their restoration, the soil faces the risk of drying out, potentially causing further damage. The HEAL THE WORLD Charity Project aims to be a small but significant step toward revitalizing Maui's lush greenery and securing its future.
Mahinahina Maui's Ongoing Commitment
Since our inception, Mahinahina Maui has been contributing a portion of its proceeds to water source protection efforts. However, raising awareness and funds has proven challenging. Undeterred, we are committed to inspire change, starting with our immediate community and extending our call for nature conservation worldwide.
The Gentle Touch of Restoration
To support the HEAL THE WORLD Charity Project, we have crafted the Maui Honey Soap. Infused with raw Maui honey, turmeric, lavender, and noni, this soap not only soothes and heals damaged skin but also symbolizes our prayer for the restoration and rebirth of Maui's nature and its resilient people after the fire's devastation.
